Continuing the theme of natural beauty products, in this post I am reviewing a mask from one of my favourite "natural" brands, Antipodes.
Claims
Cleanse deeply your skin and your spirit with this luxuriously hydrating face mask, which helps leave skin soothed and intensively hydrated. Manuka honey draws moisture to the skin, whilst helping keep skin super fresh and blemish-free.
Smooth thick layers of this creamy mask over your face and neck twice weekly. Leave for 15 minutes then rinse with warm and pure water. Also ideal for treating spots and blemishes as they may arise. Suited to most skin conditions, especially blemish-prone.
My experience
This mask has overwhelmingly positive feedback online, so I did not hesitate to buy and try. I was a delighted to find out that manuka honey is the second ingredient in the mask (only comes behind water), which means that the name "Aura Manuka Honey Mask" is an accurate description of what the product actually is - a bit of a rarity in this crowded market full of misrepresentations in this day and age.
The mask feels thin. The consistency is more like a cream-moisturiser, so it takes a lot of effort and layering to apply thickly.
I enjoy using this mask. The vanilla and citrus scent is lovely.
I have tried this mask in a few different ways: as an all over treatment, or over specific areas such as jawline and spots. I leave this on between 15 to 30 minutes before rinsing it off. This mask does not dry hard, which is great because I do not have to wash it off immediately to prevent it from drawing moisture back from my skin.
Rinses completely clean with water with no residue.
Results
Perhaps I do not fit into the target skin type, the results on me are minimal. Even though the mask has manuka honey as its main ingredient, it does not clear my pimples or congestion. My skin does feel comfortable after using it, and I think that it may have given me a small hydration boost. However, there are many other masks that I would prefer over this for more intensive hydration.
